Scuba Diving Into Cebu’s Blues

Scuba diving always gave me the impression of being such a ridiculously expensive hobby only the ridiculously rich folks could afford. However, recent years have quashed that mindset as dive shops started offering affordable diving certification and and even guided dives for non-certified tourists and locals.

I’ll let you in on a (not so) little secret: Boyla Diving. They offer certification courses starting at PHP 10,000. If you’re not quite sure yet, you could test the waters with guided fun dives. On the off season, their dive tours (for non-certified individuals) go as low as PHP 1,500 per head for a group of at least five. For that amount, you get guides/instructors, suit plus equipment, and a boat with crew. Plus, and very notably, you get to go on TWO dive sites!

The Philippines is a favorite dive spot the world over. Foreign divers visit just to explore its waters and marine life. For those of you cebuano sea creatures like me, we’re lucky we get to have the sea right at our backyard. I guarantee there are few things more fascinating.

Would you give diving a go? πŸ™‚

  1. Good post, we do a lot of shore diving in Cayman. Now that we have our own gear it’s only $6 per tank so it’s cheaper than the cinema! If we cull Lionfish at the same time, we can also have a free lunch! Enjoy your diving, J
